News from the March 11 meeting:

Long time member Benny Warden joined us at the Putnam County Library for our March meeting. Benny has been absent from the club for a while, and we all welcome him back.

Mike Eden discussed FHRCC’s growth initiative and brought an example of the Flite Test trainer kit for us to scrutinize. The kit includes materials to build the aircraft as a free flight glider, an RC glider, a 3-channel powered RC trainer, or a 4-channel sport-trainer. We hope to introduce RC modeling to some of the local schools’ STEM programs and get some students and teachers interested in the hobby.

Our June 10 fun-fly and June 17 float-fly were discussed and we’ve prepared a flyer for the float-fly. Other events mentioned include Jets Over Kentucky, which several members are planning to attend, on July 9.

We need to make a good-faith effort to honor our agreement with AEP and replace the trees that were cut down at the field. The plan is to plant a number of saplings in the clearing between the field and the highway, and Terry Burdette is looking into a source for these.

Our entrance road is getting a little sloppy when it’s wet and Chuck Harper is investigating sources for gravel to remedy that.
