Flying Hillbillies RC Club

AMA District 3 – Club # 657 – Winfield, WV, USA

May 2023 Meeting

A meeting was held at the field on May 6, 2023. Mike Eden read the treasurer’s report, which indicates that FHRCC has about $2,300 in the bank. We discussed adding admin-moderation to the FHRCC Facebook group to control spam posts. Mike Spencer briefed us on the status of FHRCC’s FAA-Recognized Identification Area (FRIA) application. All of the necessary information for Hillbilly Field has been submitted to the AMA. Applications for secondary sites aren’t being accepted by AMA at this time, so Ridenour is on hold. Mike also stressed the importance of making a good faith effort to comply with the FAA regulations that apply to our hobby, including TRUST certificates and aircraft registration.

The main order of business was the June 10 Fly-in. The event will run from 10am to 5pm with open flying all day. Steve DiPiazza will be arranging to have food and drinks on site. We’ll be accepting donations and we plan to have trainers on hand for visitors who want to try their hand at RC flying. We’re going to try to have a raffle for a trainer plane as well. We’ll be posting a shareable flyer on the events page at flyinghillbillies.com soon.

Several members are planning to attend the Princeton float-fly June 3-4 and Jets Over Kentucky which takes place the second week of July. Those and several more events have been posted to the calendar of events on this site.

It was a beautiful day at the field, and there was a lot of flying activity after the meeting:
